28 Feb 2005 Dammit, Why won't my elbow heal??

[Misc] Man I'm pissed off about my elbow.

So I was doing an Aikido class (Yeah I do Aikido, don't believe me? Check out my Bio) and my training partner was a little rough on me. He got in a arm lock move that really threw my arm and elbow out of place. Now I get this pain in my right elbow whenever I bend my arm to its maximum limit or straighten it to it maximun limit, though any other position is fine. It looks like I've strained/twisted the muscles around my elbow. This was over a month ago and the pain won't go away.

This is getting silly! I went to the doctors and all they 'recommended' was to take painkillers for a while. I did for a short while and it didn't work. Doctors are rubbish anyway; unless your dying they don't give a crap. And they always have bad news. Sorry if I've offended any doctors who read this. I'm not bitching about you, just the profession.

Does ANYBODY know a way to stop this pain?? It's affecting me badly. I've stopped going to the gym because I can't do weights on it. I know I could do other things like running but that's boring! I go to the gym to work on my guns. I'll try anything (sensible) to stop the pain. Hell I'll even be willing to give you something back in return for this favour.

Anyone got any bright ideas?

Gravatar ... Does anyone else have any bright ideas that allow me to get rid of the pain and KEEP my arm?

Gravatar Rub it, strecth it out to its limit a lot. Get an ace bandage, and if you know of the stuff, Tiger Balm. If not find another muscle cream. Take the bandage and wrap it tightly, not too tight, around you elbow at night before you go to bed, rubbing the cream all over where it hurts.

I hurt my wrist like that once before and did this. Maybe it will help with your elbow.

Gravatar I had the same problem and when I persisted in going to hospital they found out I had fractured it. Ask your doctor to send you for an X-Ray.

Gravatar That's a good idea. I did just that. I went for an X-Ray and they saw no fracture. The only thing they noted was that I had some scar-tissue in the joint, which is why I felt pain when I moved it about.

But because I had fully movement in my elbow (more or less) with no pain they said it was nothing to worry about.

I still get the odd pain though.
