10 Feb 2005 Ok Marvel, this is getting silly now.
I recently picked up the latest issue of Uncanny X-Men #455 (the latest volume) and I have to say I'm not entirely liking what I see. But what I'm about to say will contain spoilers for people who haven't read it or any of the recent comics, especially the people from the UK who only have the X-Men comics from
Panini Comics to rely on. So I thought I'd be nice and continue my rant in the comments bit below, so that the people who don't want to be spoiled won't have to read it; thusly they won't bitch at me for ruining it for them.

Comfy? Good. Where was I? Oh yeah, in the new X-Men comic the following happens:
Psylocke returns from the dead
Now I imagine this sort of news would make lots of people happy with comments like "Boo-yah! She's back, now she's gonna kick ass" or "Mmmmm, Psylocke. That's such a fine piece of ass". In short this would make people happy. Well I'm not. Don't get me wrong I've got nothing against the british lass in the body of an asian woman with pys-powers. But my point is that constantly bringing back dead people is a bad thing, because character dead will loose its impact on people. They also did this for one of my childhood fave X-Men, Collosus.
Now Collosus gave his life to cure the legacy virus, thereby saving millions of mutant lives. It was a sad day for me but it was for the greater good and thus I can accept that. A couple of months ago they found Collosus in some secret government lab alive and well (and rather pissed off). To me this has sorta made Collosus dead seem worthless, like it was pointless, and his good name had become soiled in a way. He should have stayed dead and remained a legend. Now he'll end up like an aging wrestler trying to scrape onto whatever credibility he has left, like Hollywood Hulk Hogan. This makes me sad.
But we have to see the bigger picture here. If Marvel keep killing and resurrecting characters for ratings then death will be nothing more than a cheap scheme that'll have no impact on the readers. It might be too late already. Magneto has died loads of time and in fact he's alive and well right now working with Xavier in the Excalibur comics. When I saw him alive in issue 1 or Excalibur I was slightly disgusted. Pretty soon Marvel will bring back obsure characters like Captain America's long dead sidekick
Bucky for no good reason and it'll be the norm.
I also hear tell Thor will be coming back in a years time after the whole Avengers Disassemble story left him 'dead'. Hope he enjoys his little holiday.
Finally I'd like to show you this little animation I saw on Newgrounds.com which partly sums up my point.
