Right, now that's out of the way (and I'm in front of a computer with a net connection) I'm gonna tell you all how my birthday celebrations went. It's a tale of t-shirts, cakes, a sword, and an award show. There's pictures too.
Usually I'm not that bothered about my birthday; being an old man of 24 tend to mean you don't want anything for your birthday. Regardless I impatiently waited for midnight to arrive so that I may open the presents I had waiting in my room. My mum gave them to me last week when I saw her and, like a good boy, I waited till it was birthday so I could open them. At the stroke of midnight I childishly sang a birthday song to myself and began to rip the presents apart like a kid on Christmas morning, saving a mystery boxed present till last.
Turns out I got a few t-shirts. Not bad designs on the front but very handy none the less; my current set of tees were looking worn and I needed a new set. With those out of the way I turned to the shiny silver-wrapped box. What could it be? I shooked it and it made a muffled sound. No clues. I tore the wrapping apart to reveal the content inside. It was a birthday cake from my mum.
I smiled and chuckled. Every birthday my mum would get me a birthday cake. But she couldn't see me this year seeing as I live so far away from her. It was so sweet of her to keep the tradition going in such a way. Afterwards I went to sleep in preparation for work.
Then it came to the next present. It was lunchtime at work and everyone made a fuss about it being my birthday. I went home to get a change of clothes for the HAAG awards that we're all going to. I find a note at my house saying that I needed to pick up a package from the post office. So I went and was presented a long, thin rectangular box with something quite heavy in it. It's a gift from my dad. What could it be? A rake? A pipe? I took it to work and unpacked it in front of everyone...
Turns out to be a sword. All the other guys 'oooed' and 'aaahhed' at my long, hard weapon. One of my bosses who was there had this to say...
BOSS: ... Why?
ME: Because its my birthday. ^_^
BOSS: ... Yeah, but why?
ME: Because my dad got it for my birthday.
BOSS: ...Yeah, but why?
ME: Because my dad's the coolest! ^_^
I don't know what kind of sword it is, just that it's pointy. If anyone else happens to know, let me know.
After the sword presenting we all were taken to London to attend some HAAG advertising award show as our piece was entered into one of the categories. The bad news is that it only got a bronze award on one of the categories. But on the plus side there where
NO gold awards handed out. Quite frankly some of the other entries were crap. However the important thing was that there was a chocolate fountain after the award show and everyone swarmed to it.
But there was one more surprize left for me. I visited my girlfriend over the weekend and she got me a t-shirt, but not like the other t-shirts. Oh no. She got me a custom t-shirt...
She took one of my artwork from my website and got the design on a tee. How cool is that!? Another piece of my work has been 'published'. Better than any sword. ^_^
I can't be arsed to say anymore. All in all, not a bad birthday I have to say.
Good news, I've finally got my Internet connection back in my house again! Huzzah! Now I can get back to the routine of things again.
Dude, you got a sword! I want one. I'd buy my own, but I'm afraid I'd poke myself too much. I'd, like, fall asleep with it in my bed and I'd wake up with a severe stab wound.
And all those gifts will seem so unimportant now because I made you the most spectacular fansign. EVER.
That's right. Bow to me. But now I must run away...
Oh wow! That's pretty bad ass! Grax is pleased. ^_^
Oh crap!! I completely forgot to mention that my good latina friend in Argentina phoned me to wish me a happy birthday! I completely forgot to say thanks in my entry.
Don't know if you'll read this two months late, brother, but I'm pretty sure that Si has exactly the same sword.
