1 Nov 2006 X-Men 3 movie review

[Review] Remember when I ranted on about how I felt that X-Men 3 was going to be rubbish because of a whole bunch of fan-boy reasons? Well, turns out it wasn't that bad.

I mean it's not award-winning material, but it wasn't that bad.

The plot for this movie in a nutshell is the government has developed a way of permanently neutralising the mutant gene, which turns mutants into normal humans (or 'curing' them in their words). Naturally this causes a bit of an upset in the mutant community, and the X-Men get involved. Oh and Jean Grey is alive but is much more powerful and has a split personality called Phoenix, who is very mean indeed.

I quite liked this film because it made an obvious statement that says "This has nothing to do with the Marvel Universe. We're going to change lots of things but it's got nothing to do with the Marvel Universe so quite yer whining". For example (I don't want to give away too much detail of the movie) there are a few major characters that die. It makes you take notice and think "Oh... They're actually dead... They're not coming back... How controversal". It was rather refreshing.

I was right about The Juggernaut though. He was rather pants. He wasn't big, he shouldn't be a mutant and the in-joke reference was a little uncalled for.

Bottom line is X-Men is an ok movie. You down really need to watch the previous X-Men movies, well you down really need to watch this movie to be honest, it won't enrich your lives any more than it is. It's a bit of no-brain fun. Fanboy and non-fanboy alike will feel equally indifferent about it.

A DVD rental at the most if you can get it for a buck or something.

GRAX RATING: 2/5

... Oh yeah, Hugh Jackman was pretty awesome. But then I quite like him anyway.

Gravatar Yea, X-men 3 wasn't that bad a movie.

As for Alice in Chains...yea they are touring again with their new singer, William Duvall. He's amazing, he sounds just like Layne (RIP). They were awesome live, i saw them in May and again last month. Go to their website to see if they're playing near you ;)
