Task #14 Witness a Summer Solstice at Stonehenge

Twice a year the general public are allowed to touch the sacred stones of Stonehenge. During the Summer Solstice of 2010 I touched one of these stone pillars. It felt a little warm.

With another 101 task completed I spent from dusk till dawn, along with some thousand other people, wandering, dancing and sitting around Stonehenge until daybreak. It was a very chilled-out environment with people being friendly, chatty, bored, drunk, drugged, warm, cold, or a combination of all the above.

I drove there in my Grax-mobile, parked up about a kilometre away from Stonehenge and walked up to the stones with no hassle. Well apart from not being allowed to talk my sleeping bag or big-ass camping bag into the grounds. Odd rules, especially considering there's the stench of weed and booze in the air. Ah well, could be worse I suppose.

I'd like to go again, but next time I'll bring a large-ish group of friends. If you don't feel like talking to all kinds of characters and strangers then the whole thing can get very boring.

Either that or you can simply turn up at around sunrise, like dozens of people were doing as I left the grounds with my task completed.

95) Get a henna tattoo on my face

Well technically its not henna but is in fact "Jagua" ink. But it's got pretty much the same properties as henna; it just comes out darker. So I'm calling this challenge done!

I got the jagua tattoo on the last day of the Download Music Festival 2010. This photo was taken the day after the festival. I wonder how long it will last...

25) Dance in a Mosh Circle at a festival

This is me dancing in a mosh circle at Download 2010 to Lamb Of God's "Redneck".

Unfortunately you mostly get a good look at the sky. At least it was a nice day outside...

10) Visit my friend in Germany

This is my good friend from secondary school. He moved to Germany last year soon after getting married.

Technically he doesn't live in Berlin, we were both here on holiday. But he DOES live in Germany and I DID go to Germany to visit him.

Task done methinks.

68) Buy some good stomping boots (for hiking, festivals and general stomping)
